cxcelsa, cortice rugoso fusco, J&awuli juniores griseo-tomentosi, novelli
cum gemmis et petiolis dense stramineo- vcl cincveo-tomentosi. FoKa lauceolata vel
oblpnga, superae in sicco tenuissime reticulata, G-JO poll, longa, £-3£ lata. Pedun-
culi breves alabastrique dense tomentosi. Svpctla et petal a 1^-2 poll, longa, exte-
riora anguste obovato-oblonga, obtusa, interiora paullcvf angustiora mucronata vel
acula. Ovaria cum gynophoro dense tomentosa, stylo tilifornii in sicco nigro glabro.
Caryclla in spiea 4-5-pollicari discrete pediccllata, obovata, pollicaria et ultra, ver-
rucosa. Semina 1-3.
"Wallich states that this species flowers in spring ; in Sikldm, however, it does not
flower till August and September, nor does it in that country attain the great size to
which it grows in Nipal.

Folia coriacca, in sicco nervis crebris rcticulata, superne nitida, subtus paJlida ; ju-
niora subtus adpresse incana, 5-6 poll, longa, 1-*— 2 lata ; p«tiolo pollicari. dcatrix
stiputaris ultra medium pctiolam cxtcnsa. Alabastri % poll, longi, eincreo-sericei,
spathis 2, quorum exterior cito decidua, involuti. Flares odore debili, brevissime
peduuculati. Petata pollicaria. Owla 5-6 vcl plura. CarppUa, in spicam 3-4-
pollicarcm disposiia, compressa, rotundata, vix £-pollicaria. Semina 3-4.

Rawuti niinutissime tubrsrculati ; paries novelize glabnc. Folia in sicco crelire
reticulata, 4-0 pollices louwa, &£ lata, superne nitida, subtus pallida vel glaucescentia.
